2024-2025 LHS Band Booster Board Elections will be March 13, 2024 at 7:00 p.m.
Please see below for the bios of people who are running for elected positions:
Vice President:
Becki Gonzales
My name is Becki Gonzales and I have two kids in marching band. Cadel will be in 11th grade and plays baritone (and trombone) and Torin will be in 9th grade and is in the Color Guard. Over the past two years, I've volunteered at the Gatorade station during band camp, the Legend Marching Festival, the regional competition hosted by Legend, assisted food crew, helped with the craft fair, and dipped my toe in props crew and pit crew. I am currently the PTO president at Cimarron and last year served as vice president and staff appreciation chairperson. Now that both of my kids will be at Legend, I feel I'll be able to give more time to Band and help out with some of the things going on behind the scenes. Serving on the board will allow me to get to know the band family better and give me more opportunities to hang out with my kiddos, or at least be in their proximity without them complaining too much. Even if I'm not elected to the board, I'll still be around to help out and I'm looking forward to the upcoming season.
Secretary:
Heather Treusch
Hello, my name is Heather Treusch and I am honored to be a board member of this amazing band program. Our daughter, Emily, plays clarinet and is in her second year here at Legend. In my off time from being a band Mom, I am running my real estate business and my husband, Nate, and I are attending our other two children’s activities. I am also a member of the Legendary Pit Crew which has provided a great opportunity to assist the marching band and get acquainted with other band parents. It drives me to be more involved within the band community. Coming from a band background, I am a third generation clarinet player and played in a band all through my middle and high school years. I was Drum Major of my High School marching band my Junior and Senior years from 2002-2004. In 2004, I received the Semper Fidelis Award for Musical Excellence. I am thrilled that I can now be a part of another Marching Band family as a band mom and board member!
Treasurer:
Tara Bingham
Hi band parents! My name is Tara Bingham and I am interested in being the band treasurer for the 2023/ 2024 year. My daughter is Mya Bingham and will be a junior next year in Color Guard. She has a dedication and love for band. I have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting. I work for a CPA as his assistant. I also have my own small business where I service businesses with their bookkeeping needs mainly on Quickbooks. I have served as PTA treasurer for my kids' elementary schools in the past. I am excited to be more involved with the band. Thank you for your consideration!
Assistant Treasurer:
Fundraising Chair:
Tisha Smith
I love helping and being involved with the band. My biggest challenge is that marching band season is the same as our daughter's soccer season. She plays collegiate soccer for Western State University in Gunnison. So we do our best to split the season and see her games and Cooper's competitions. For experience I have been involved in starting and running a charity for the last 11yrs, House of Light Colorado. We provide families coming out of homelessness/shelters with mattresses and bedding. I have helped with numerous fundraising events over the 11 years of my involvement with HOL and worked with local businesses to get donations for our charity.
Large Events Chair:
Nate Treusch
My name is Nate Treusch and I am the dad to a Junior clarinet player, 6th grade flute player and a 3rd grader who thinks he wants to be a drummer. I also "help" with the Pit Crew and partner with my wife Heather Treusch coordinating monthly-ish band parent outings. I look forward to diving even deeper as the Large Event Chair on the board!
On behalf of the Legend Band Booster Board, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all of the new and returning parents and students enrolled in the 2024-2025 Legend Band program. I would also like to start by answering a few questions.
How do you join the Legend Band Boosters?
You are in! By having a current or past student enrolled in the Legend Band program, you are a Legend Band Booster!
What do Legend Band Boosters do?
The Legend Band Boosters support all students and families in the Legend Band program, including marching band, concert & symphonic bands, wind ensemble, color guard, winter guard, percussion, indoor percussion, and jazz band. We support students, Mr. Otis, and the band program through fundraising and a tremendous amount of volunteer hours.
The Legend Band Boosters also support band families by striving to provide opportunities for family and parent social events through not only volunteering opportunities but also through regular social gatherings.
When do the Legend Band Boosters meet?
Booster meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month at 7pm. All parents are encouraged to attend these meetings to receive the most recent band program updates, get questions answered, learn about upcoming fundraisers and volunteer needs, and meet and socialize with other great and supportive booster parents.
How can I support the Legend Band?
A program as comprehensive and successful as the Legend Band program needs everyone's support to keep it strong. There are three main ways Legend Band Boosters provide support to Mr. Otis and the Legend Band students.
Volunteer!
Hundreds of opportunities are available to support the band throughout the year.
With various time commitments, flexible schedules, and a wide variety of skills needed, there are volunteer opportunities for EVERYONE!
For major fundraisers, we are always in need of:
Coordinators
Volunteers
Promotors
Other ways booster parents directly support the band include:
Donating food to feed the band at practices, football games, and competitions
Serving meals to students and staff at football games & band events
Sewing/mending band flags & uniforms
Building props
Creating programs for the festivals we host
...and so much more!
Attend & Cheer!
The excitement of band performances is performing for people. Our students and staff love to have parents attend performances to cheer on the band. You will not believe the changes that happen with just one week between performances and will appreciate the amazing growth when you then see the regional and state performances.
Have time in the afternoon or on Saturday? Feel free to enjoy the grass and shade in the lower parking lot while you watch the behind the scenes magic of the Legend Band practices.
Financially!
The Legend Band Boosters commit to raising over $100,000 every year to cover some of the following expenses:
Staff salaries
New instruments and instrument repair
Props
Equipment Rental
Food
