Legend takes 4th at DCMI!!!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS to the Legend HS Marching Band, they finished an amazing 4th place in FINALS out of 20 bands at the 2010 DCMI Festival! The judges were all very complimentary of and impressed by the maturity of sound, execution of drill, energy level and confidence of the show, displayed by our band members. Our best compliment of the day may have been from one judge who said, “This is not a 2nd year band – congratulations and keep it up”!

The band was also 4th in prelims and 3rd in the 4A class!

There is no doubt that the day was a tremendous team effort and as usual the band boosters were in fine form: Qtr. Master and Team/Pit and Prop Crew/Food, Water and Snack Crews/Support Crew -the only thing that can be said is simply, THANK YOU!!!! There are too many of you to mention. But a hearty “Yeah Band” and “Ahoo-Ahoo-Ahoo” to all of you!
See you at the next event…

LHS Band receives 3 1’s at Band Festival

Congratulations, to the combined Legend Symphonic/Concert Band, they received 3 1’s(a 1 is superior rating)
at the 2010 CHSAA Lage Group Band Festival , held at Rock Canyon HS. One of the judges gave the band a 1+ (a perfect score and the highest 1 possible and very rare) a second judge gave the band a score 1 point away from a 1+ and the third judge also gave them a very high 1.

The on-stage clinic judge immediately commented on the “obvious discipline and maturity of the band.” When he said that to them, you could see the relief and pride on the band members faces. All three judges were impressed with the high level of music as well as the quality and execution from the band and even more amazed when they found out the band had no juniors or seniors.

In a separate sight-reading clinic, the band received a 2+(excellent rating) and only 1 point away from a 1.

The Legend Symphonic/Concert Band is made up of select 8th graders from Cimarron MS and all 9th and 10th band members from Legend.

Congratulations LHS Symphonic/Concert Band!!!!!!

FYI – for our new parents unfamiliar with the rating system see below:
1=superior
2=excellent
3=good/fair
4=fair/poor(rarely given)
5=unprepared (very rare)

Legend Band Shines in 1st Competitive Field Show event…

The LHS Titan marching band finished 2nd in the 3A class of the 2009 Grand Junction West Marching Festival. In the field show category they finished with a score of 50.80 only .05 behind the 1st place band. The band also finished a very close 2nd in the parade category as well. The band earned its highest scores in the visual and music caption areas. The band also finished 6th overall out of 14 bands. —- Congratulations Band!

Our students and parents all shared stories about how numerous people sought them ought to congratulate them on the parade and field show performances.

After the event was over, in an unprecedented show of sportsmanship and humility, members of the Palisaide Band came over to congratulate the Legend HS Band members. It was a wonderful exchange and it says a lot about the Director and Students of Palisaide and I’m sure it is something our Legend students will not soon forget!

Congratulations to the Palisaide HS band they won more than 1st place in the 3A class…
