Legend Feeder Area Summer Music Camp For Band and Orchestra Students
The potential student:
1. Will be a beginner / 1st , 2nd or 3rd year player (entering the 4th, 5th, or 6th grade)
2. Has a willingness or desire to play a Band or Orchestra instrument and Have Fun While Doing it!
3. Has transportation to and from camp
4. Will have an instrument in good working condition and music supplies
Legend High School / Monday, June 18 – Friday, June 22, 2011 / 9am – Noon (daily)

Informational Meeting and Instrument Rental Night @ Legend HS on Thursday, May 31st at 6pm.

The evening will showcase some of the equipment, styles and techniques that students have been working on this spring.

Concert – the last band concert of the year is here. Spring band Concert Thursday, May 3rd 7pm… Sax quartet, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band will be performing… arrive early to get a good seat…

Banquet – Friday, May 4th at the Lone Tree Golf Resort Restaurant. 6:15pm banquet start time. 1st ever senior graduating class will be recognized along with the leadership positions for next year and many other awards as well.

The Legend jazz band received 1′s from the UNC jazz festival held last week at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley.
Jake Bott and Ryan Ortt also received recognition for outstanding Jazz Solos,
Congratulations to both young men and the entire jazz band!

The Legend Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble have good performances at the 2012 CHSAA Large Group Music Festival – held at Rock Canyon HS.
The Symphonic Band received a II (Excellent) Rating and the Wind Ensemble Received a I (Superior) rating including a I (Superior) in Sight-Reading.

sanctioned by Colorado Bandmasters Association with Preliminaries and Finals competition to include the Top 1A, 2A, 3A & Open Class Bands guaranteed a spot in the finals NEW THIS YEAR: Open Class/Modified Format = Any 4a or 5a band that did not make the CBA Semi-finals in 2011
Sponsored by the Legend High School Band Boosters
• All 24 participating bands will receive a beautiful commemorative plaque
• 9 of the participating 1A 2A 3A bands will perform in the Finals including at least two from each of the 1A, 2A, and 3A divisions plus the next 3 highest scoring bands regardless of class NEW THIS YEAR! • 3 of the participating Open Class bands(as described above) will also perform in the Finals
• All participants in the finals will receive a Finalist Banner
• Trophies awarded to the 1A, 2A, 3A & Open Class Champions
1st Class Amenities. Free parking for spectators. Large parking areas for buses and equipment trucks. Comfortable viewing area for all guests. Spacious practice fields available for band, guard and percussion warm-up. Professional, artificial turf competition surface. Electricity is available on the 50-yard line. A large variety of affordable concessions will be available throughout the entire event.

Legend band student impacts community…

It is not often, that a young person is directly responsible for significant changes
in their community. Well that is exactly what Courtney Grubb (sophomore – Oboe/Flute) has done.
Recently, Courtney presented a proposal to the Parker Town Council, that would ban smoking in Playgrounds located within the Town of Parker. It passed!!!!!!!!
Great Job Courtney and keep making a difference!
We are all proud of you!

Students/Parents, the 2012 LHS Titan Marching Band Books will be distributed beginning on Friday, March 9th. The band books are a wealth of information, covering everything from from Participation Fees to Calendar and Schedule of Events, etc… Be looking for them!

Kaelen Guthrie(clarinet) was selected the Legend Band Student of the Qtr. – Kaelen is a freshman and is 1st Chair in the Legend Symphonic Band.
Trey Hamsmith(senior-alto sax) recently participated the “CSU/Pueblo Honor Band”, which was held in Pueblo, CO.
Sarah Hollifield(junior-clarinet) and Andy Bradfield(freshman-tuba) recently participated in the “Western States Honor Band” which was held in Gunnison, CO.
Elizabeth Moroni(senior-trumpet), Cody Thompson(senior-clarinet) and Jake Bott(senior-alto sax) recently auditioned for the University of Northern Colorado School of Music in Greeley, CO. To be accepted into the School of Music as an incoming freshman is quite an honor, so best of luck to all 3 of them.
Congrats to all of these students!
