3 LHS Color Guard members make the Signature…

Winter Guard Line… Congratulations to Jessie Smith, Jenna Hawley and Jenny Bell. Each member had to go through a grueling audition process to qualify and make the group. Signature competes in the RMCGA circuit and performs on Saturday’s this Spring 2012! Again, Congratulations Ladies, we are all very proud of you! Keep up the good work!

The Colorado Honor Band in Concert in the Legend Theater
The Colorado Honor Band is a non-profit organization, which services students through high level music instruction and performance opportunities. The organization has been in existence for 57 years and is the oldest organization of it’s type in the Western United States. Currently – Andy Bradfield(Tuba) Kaelen Guthrie(Clarinet) and Lewis Farrar(Trumpet) are in the groups that will be performing in this concert! This is a FREE Concert and Open to the Public. Come hear some outstanding student musicians Make Some Amazing Music! Mr. Otis will be conducting the Symphony Winds!

The Legend HS Jazz Ensembles Perform in the
LEGEND JAZZ EXTRAVAGANZA!
Come Hear Your Own Legend Jazz Ensembles… Perform some of the coolest jazz sounds around! The concert is free, but as always donations for music and other Jazz Expenses are always appreciated!
Invite a Friend / Neighbor and/or Supporter of Music Education in the schools to the outstanding concert.

Thursday, December 8th 7pm… Legend HS Bands Winter Concert and Celebration7pm… Come hear the Concert Band / Symphonic Band and Marching Band perform a fun and uplifting end of Semester Concert. The concert will also feature a special performance by the Legend CGuard and the cool sounds of the Amazing Legend Jazz Band… Parents and students enjoy a hot apple cider, coffee and desserts in the lobby before and after the concert.

2012 NEW CGuard/Perc Parents Info Meeting Wed 11/9 7pm

This meeting is NOT for Current Legend Band Parents. It is specifically designed for Parents that will be NEW for the 2012 Marching Season.If your daughter or son is already in the Legend band you do NOT need to be at this meeting.

Potential and New Students, who are interested in Auditioning for the 2012 LHS Color Guard and Percussion Groups and their Parents should attend this meeting on Wednesday, November 9th 7pm – 8:30 in the LHS Band Room. If a student is planning on auditioning a parent must attend this meeting.

Meet The Director, The Asst principal as well as The Percussion and Color Guard Instructors. Audition information will be covered. Potential New Students will meet current members of the groups, parents can ask questions of Mr. Otis and a few current parents. Students will spend a few minutes with our amazing Instructors OH Yeh!!! Refreshments will be served! Potential New Parents – this will be a very purposeful Evening! We hope you can join us!

2 Legend Band Students receive Top National Honors!!!!!!!

Mega Congratulations to Jonathan Bell(Mellophone and Band President) and Cody Thomson(Clarinet and Asst. Section Leader), who recently were both selected to represent Legend HS, the Douglas County School District and Colorado in the 85th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Cody and Jon will be marching in the “2011 Macy’s Marching Band” – The Macy’s Parade Band is made up of students from throughout the United States. They will be marching on the nationally televised event on Thanksgiving Day!!!

Both students have an amazing week of activities planned, as they will be making new musical friends from all over the country and of course taking in all of the sites of New York City!

Way to go gentlemen, we are all very proud of you and we will ALL be watching!

Reminder for Parade of Lights Rehearsal and Performance…

Parents / Students dates for the remaining “Parade of Lights” rehearsals are:
Tuesday, November 8th and 15th from 3:15p – 4:30p

Final Dress Rehearsal Thursday, December 1st
3:15p – 5:30pm

Parade Performances Friday, December 2nd and Saturday, December 3rd

Friday, December 2nd
Student Call time 3:30pm at the Legend Band Room
Students will receive a hot meal (dinner) before departure
Parade Start time Downtown Denver 7pm

Saturday, December 3rd No dinner will be provided, since students wil be coming from home. A light snack will be provided at school before departing. Call Time is 3:30pm

Legend Drum Line keeps the beat for 1a 2a 3a…

…The Legend Drum Line, was asked by CBA to be the Cadence Percussion Line on Monday night. The Drum Line had the unique honor of playing in all of the Finals 1a 2a and 3a bands at the conclusion of the state contest for the Full Retreat. The Drum Line was led on the field by Percussion Instructor Tohbias Juniel and Percussion Captain Ryan O.

The Drum Line played for 21 straight minutes continuosly without stopping or missing a beat until the last band was on the field!

The Legend Drum Line is graduating 8 seniors in its inagural senior graduating class.

Legend Marching Band Has Great Season……..

finishing 5th in the 2011 5A CBA State Marching Finals… In only it’s 3rd year of Marching Band the Titan band becomes the 1st and only CBA band to make finals in each of it’s 1st 3 years of existence in successive classes (in 2009-3A 2010- 4A and 2011-5A.) Congratulations Titans and Congratulations to Legend’s 1st Graduating Seniors. Thanks for the “Sacrifice” !

Legend Selected to March in 9 News PARADE OF LIGHTS!

Great News… The Legend Marching Band has been selected to participate in This Year’s 2011 9 News Parade of Lights. Each year from many applications 7 bands and the previous Year’s Parade winner are invited to perform in front of thousands in the Live Broadcasted Downtown Denver Parade hosted by 9 News. The parade will be Fri/Sat. December 2nd and 3rd.
