PLEASE REMEMBER these are just reminders of already published info!Percussion / Color Guard Camp
(All Percussion and Guard members)
July 11th – 15th 9am – 2pm
Bring Snack/Lunch/Water Bottle/Sunscreen/Sun Glasses/Caps/Good Foot Wear/
Appropriate Clothing
New Member Orientation CampAny one that was not in the Legend Marching Band in the fall season of 2010 will attend this camp
Friday, July 15th 9am – 1pm
New Percussion and Color Guard Members will only attend the 1st hour of this event. Then resume with their regular scheduled camp!
Current Band Leaders will be in attendance to mentor new students
Lunch will be provided for all new members and leaders on this day.
Leadership Camp(selected student leaders only)
July 15th – 16th at Legend – Band Leaders arrive at Legend 9am
to help w New Member Orientation Camp
Band Leaders will stay overnight at an area hotel (hear guest speaker and engage in leadership activities)
Full Band Camp at Legend HSMonday, July 19th – Friday, July 29th (no weekends)
ALL CAMPS WILL BE HELD AT LEGEND HS….
NOTE: The above Summer Camp schedule allows us NOT to have to practice 4 or 5 times a week during the regular school year (fall season) –
NOTE: Once the school year starts Band students have
All Mondays, Wednesdays and (9)Fridays and (4)Saturdays off…
*Color Guard and Percussion Members do rehearse on Wednesdays after school.
NOTE: Attendance at Summer Camp, Fall Season Practices, Performances including all Home football games, parades and competitions and exhibitions are required for membership in the
Legend Titan Marching Band.

What costs more than May – December Marching Band
Remember in Band there is no 2nd team players (EVERYBODY starts and plays in EVERY event and performance) In band everyone is a 1st team – STAR player! No one sits on the bench!
What does your Marching Band Participation Fee HELP Cover(in Blue)
1. Helps Subsidize all Band Booster Financial Resposibilities (PLEASE VOLUNTEER and HELP US)

Staff Payroll
*Band Materials/supplies
example(batteries for mics / cables / chalk for drill / tape / copy fees)

(35 practices / 5 home football games / 9 festival/contest performances)

Remember the band banquet is on Friday, May 6th… (Legend Commons) Your student should have brought home an RSVP form
by now, so that you can pre-order you band banquet tickets. All Band students regardless of the band they are in… will be recognized during the evening!
Marching band students that have paid their MB participation/camp fee in full – do not need to pay as their banquet ticket was included
in the fee. All other students and parents will have to purchase tickets.
If you did not receive the form feel free to email Mrs. Rozsa
at linda.rozsa@dcsdk12.org… and she can email 1 directly to you.
36 Auditioned for a few 2011 Leadership positions!!!!!

Even though there were only a few positions available…This past Saturday, May 16th … 36 Outstanding Legend MB Students auditioned for 4 hours in their attempt to earn Leadership positions in the 2011 Legend Titan Marching Band… All of the students were very excited in knowing that this was the final stamp of a 364 day audition…
When asked, one student said what they learned from the day… was that— “No one gives you leadership, you have to earn it!”
I(Mr. Otis) and all of the returning leaders, who were also apart of the overall evaluation process, were impressed and excited about all of the auditions. Final results will be announced at the end of year Band Banquet on Friday, May 6th. Congratulations band members… you are all leaders…
Jazz Band to Perform at UNC Greeley Jazz Festival…

The LHS Jazz band will be making its 1st appearance and performing at the UNC Greeley Jazz Festival on Friday, April 29th.
The jazz band will not only be performing and watching other jazz bands – but later in the evening will watch one of the world’s greatest living Jazz Pianists – Chick Corea!!! It should be an Amazing Day and Night!
Wind Ensemble receives excellent scores at recent Festival

Congratulations to the Wind Ensemble and select members or the Symphonic Band , who together received (3)2′s and a 1 at the most recent CHSAA Large Group Music Festival held at Englewood HS. The band received all very high 2′s and a 1 in sight-reading. Don’t miss the final Spring Band Concert of the year on Thursday, May 5th at 7pm!!!!

Our next band fundraiser night will be at Panda Express on Wednesday, April 27th from 4:00 to 9:00 pm. Please be sure to bring the attached flyer with you and the band will receive 20%. Remember to invite your friends and don’t forget that you can buy gift cards to use at a later date. Because April is such a busy month for the band, we will only be having one restaurant night this month. So, let’s make it count!

4/13 Wind Ensemble to CHSAA Large Group Festival Contest
Englewood HS 1:45p (for detailed info – see information sent home with wind ensemble students last Wednesday on 4/6 or emails sent to all parents of wind ensemble students on 4/10)
4/14 All New Marching Band Members brass and woodwinds Marching Clinic Legend Band Room 3:15p – 4:30p (current mb leaders are expected to be in attendance) New perc and CG students do not attend this clinic!
4/15 All Marching Band Brass and Woodwind Members of the 2011 Titan Marching Band for Marching Clinic 3:15 – 4:45p Perc and Color Guard do NOT attend this clinic…
4/16 2011 Leadership Auditions 6:59am In Legend Band Room(although only a few positions are available this year, more than 35 students have signed up! Students auditioning should get a good night’s rest and eat a good but Light breakfast. (as usual – current leaders are expected to be in attendance)
