Excitement is in the air as 115 Legend band students will be traveling to CSU for Band Camp to begin their 2nd season of marching band. Legend’s 1st year of Marching Band was one to remember: (3A State Finalist, Grand Junction, State Fair, California/Holiday Bowl and many other events)… Year 2 promises to be just as rewarding!!! Ahoo! Ahoo! Ahoo!
Full Band Camp for ALL 2010 Legend Marching Band Members begins on Sunday, July 18 in Ft. Collins, CO on the beautiful Colorado State University Campus (CSU). The camp runs from Sunday afternoon, July 18 – to Friday morning July, 23. ALL band students should meet at Legend by 2pm on Sunday July 18… scheduled departure is 2:30pm. scheduled arrival back at Legend is Friday, July 23 at noon.
Students that have been designated as “Leaders”… ie… Section Leaders, Squad Captains, Drum Majors and other leaders… are to meet on Saturday, July, 17 as their camp starts 1 day early. These students should arrive at Legend by 9am to help load band equipment and depart for CSU at 10:30am. They will engage in leadership activities and experience the Ropes Course, before the rest of the band arrives on Sunday!
All Students will be transported to and from CSU by district buses.
Things to remember:
ALL STUDENTS MUST BRING SIGNED MEDICAL RELEASE FORMS WITH THEM, WHEN THEY ARRIVE FOR DEPARTURE. You will give these forms to Mrs. Rozsa before you step on the bus. Forms can be downloaded from the band web site.
Please see already published camp info on the band web site for ALL of the details and a guide for what to bring on the trip.
Note: The dorm rooms are Not air-conditioned, so it is suggested that you bring a fan if desired. Most students know who their roommates are, so talk with your roommate as to not double up on certain items. Example… 230 fans or hair dryers is probably not a good idea.
also students can get clean towels daily, by taking your towels to the front desk for exchange… vending machines are available, but snacks will be provided each night, so save your money!
Reminders: (for Parents and Students)
1. 20 Adult teaching Staff and Band Parents will be monitoring the safety and well-being of your student throughout the camp…
2. MANY steps have been taken to ensure the success of a great experience(contests/games, a movie at the dorm, etc.), so please talk with your student about expectations of behavior and the importance of following all instructions/directions.
3. No girls in boys rooms(ever)! No boys in girls rooms(ever)! No boys on the actual girls floor(ever)! No girls on the actual boys floor(ever)!
There are No exceptions to this!
I will not hesitate to send a student home from camp if there are any problems! If this happens membership in band will be terminated!
4. Upon arrival at Newsom Hall, students will meet with Mr. Otis for orientation and welcome. They will be given room assignment, room key, dining hall card, dorm entrance key(only our group has access to the portion of the dorm we are in) Note to parents: except for dorm staff we are the only group in Newsom Dormitory.(they say it is for security… I think it is because they don’t want anyone else to hear the drums and trumpets practice) LOL! Each student will also receive the camp itinerary, which will outline all activities for the week.
5. Amazing meals Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner and (evening snacks from boosters) will be provided everyday. Ice and Water coolers w/cups will be available in the dorm everyday, students will never be without water. (remember those water bottles) Supervised recreation and swim time will also be available during camp as well.
6. The weather will be very nice in Ft. Collins during camp mid – high 80′s all week. So have appropriate clothing. See band details…
(also-band camp t shirts / shorts and sweats will be distributed at camp)
and finally, band camp will be fun , hard and challenging at times, but I am positive that our Legend Titan Band Students will return with a sense of accomplishment that will be invaluable as they continue to grow!
See You at Camp Titans!
